Clyde Higgs Scholarship: Emily Morris

Emily Morris, BSc (Hons) Agriculture with Animal Science student, has received a Clyde Higgs Scholarship at Harper Adams University.

Emily, 23, from Mold, Clwyd, said: “It’s a great honour to be selected by the Harper Adams Development Trust for this scholarship.

“With this scholarship, I’d like to dedicate more time to my studies, especially my HRP which will require independent study outside of lecturing hours.

“During my time at Harper Adams, I was the recipient of a scholarship to attend the Oxford Farming Conference for the Staffordshire and Birmingham Agriculture Society in 2017.

“I’ve also been keeping a flock of 70 welsh mules with my partner as well as attending university. This year, I chose to lamb the ewes in the Christmas half term so that I could concentrate on revising for my final year exams during the Easter half term.

“When I graduate, I’d like to increase the sheep numbers and rear dairy heifer calves as well as working full time in the agricultural industry.

“My ambition is to become a ruminant nutritionist. I completed my placement year at Trouw Nutrition GB, and found I had a particular interest in mineral nutrition which I’d love to be involved in one day.

“I’d like to thank the Elizabeth Creak Charitable Trust for their support through my studies.”
